Our goal is to enhance the lives of program participants by building healthy emotional bonds between riders and the uniquely trained horses that work with them. RHF is a tax-exempt 501(c) 3 organization.
Our program seeks to enrich the lives of physically, cognitively and emotionally challenged persons through riding instruction that engages special needs individuals in a mainstream recreational and sport activity. Ages 4 to Adult
Individuals with almost any cognitive, physical and/or emotional disability can benefit from therapeutic riding, driving, vaulting, competition or other purposeful, safe and supervised interaction with equines. Horseback riding gently and rhythmically moves the rider’s body in a manner similar to a human gait. This in turn provides riders with physical disabilities improved flexibility, balance and muscle strength. In addition, individuals with mental or emotional disabilities can benefit from the unique relationship formed with the horse which leads to increased confidence, patience and self-esteem. Adaptive recreational riding is horseback riding modified to meet the needs of individuals with different physical and cognitive abilities. PATH certified instructors and accredited centered riding instructors teach all lessons with a 1 to 1 ratio.
We require a Medical Form to be signed by a physician and a completed Registration packet.
